Mistakes don't have to define you...

Something I've learned in my 32 years of life is that we all make mistakes. But another thing I've learned is that in this life people are quick to judge you from those mistakes and not only will they, but we judge ourselves also. When ever someone starts to judge me for a mistake I've made I remember Thomas in the Bible one of Jesus's disciples... If your like most people when you think of Thomas in the bible you think of who...? (Doubting Thomas) made famous for is doubt in the resurrected Jesus Christ. He needed to see the holes in his hand and touch his side to believe. And for that he is forever known as Doubting Thomas. It just stinks that because of one moment of doubt he is "type cast'" in every sermon, joke, or example for years to come. From now on I challenge you to think of Thomas a little differently. In John 11:16 Thomas let's his true colors shine I believe. In the bible at this time Lazarus had just died and Jesus was not there when he did though they had wanted him to be because they felt if he were he could have prevented it from happening. After hearing that Lazarus had past away Jesus wanted to go visit the grave sight where people where still in mourning. In John 11:7 Jesus said "let's go to Judea" and in the verse 8 the disciples said "Jesus they wanted to kill us there" Jesus then begins to tell them that Lazarus is dead and he can "awaken" him so in verse 16 Thomas knowing that in Judea there would be possible death said "let us go with him so we may die with him". Listen to me when I say that people in this life are quick to take your mistakes no matter how small and use them to type cast you for the rest of your life. Thomas will forever be remembered for his moment of doubt but no one seems to care about the courage, strength, and loyalty that he showed in Verse 16. DON'T EVER LET YOUR STORY BE WRITTEN FOR YOU BASED ON YOUR MISTAKES. There is a truth inside of you given by God and every day live by it, write your own title to the life you live..
